Cables and Needles   Leave a comment

I was really scared of cables when I first took a look at them. They seemed so difficult. I couldn’t figure out how the tiny wooden cable needle would make such intricate stitches. I really have to thank the video at KnittingHelp.com

Here is the result of my first foray:

I made this for my dad for Fathers Day/Birthday. Just what every man wants, a scarf in June. That being said, it will get put to good use as winters in New England can be very cold.

Currently on the needles are still my daughters blanket, still on the first color, hope to start the 2nd this week. On the subway, I am making a second cabled scarf with matching headband out of a merino wool that I purchased in Rhinebeck last year. Lastly, I’m working on my first MDK project (Mason-Dixon for those of you who don’t know), a log cabin blanket. I am using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece to make this. Right now it’s in the blues, I may add reds and greens later on:

I’ve got my first batch of Peaches & Cream on the way so I can do some more MDK projects. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!
